I’m Anita, mother of three, wife, and long term lover of retail and design. 

When I was pregnant with our first child, my husband and I went shopping for baby gear. We were so overwhelmed by all the options; which pram should we get, does this cot fit this mattress, how do we install a capsule? I remember standing in stores and feeling like tumbleweeds were rolling past us. There was no one available to help us with our questions!

Towards the end of my maternity leave I had a chance encounter with the owner of corporateescapade. I had a strong feeling that baby retail could be done better, with an emphasis on service and product knowledge, and I could see the opportunity online (this was 2014, when many stores didn't have websites). I asked him if he wanted to sell the business, and a few short weeks later I'd quit my head office retail job, and I was working on the shop floor as the new owner of corporateescapade!

Fast-forward a few years, and two more children, corporateescapade is a busy store, both in store and online. We have an amazing team of six people. I have designed and developed the Oohbubs range, and my husband Siva has quit his job to join us full-time as well.
